Happy New Year! Hope you all have a wonderful time celebrating tonight!

My New Years Resolutions;
  1. Get fit, possibly with the help of Kayla Itsine's workout plans
  2. Read more books, my commute is 50 mins so the perfect time to read!
  3. Explore London
  4. Go on holiday with Tom, fingers crossed we save up enough
  5. Blog more regularly!

Nothing too extravagant, but hopefully I'll be able to keep them!
What are your resolutions?

New Years Eve Outfit Inspiration

Pinterest

Sequins are my new obsession. I can't get enough! I have made a whole board dedicated to sequins on Pinterest. I am currently loving how they look paired with more relaxed pieces, as in the pictures above. A knitted jumper or casual t-shirt bring a different vibe to the outfit.

I was on the hunt for a sequined skirt for New Year but as of right now I haven't found one :(
Let me know if you've found one anywhere!

Hope you have a great New Year, whatever you're doing!

Fitness Update #1

Earlier this month I wrote this post about my fitness journey. So I thought I would give you a quick update on how it's going! I know it's awful to schedule this for straight after Christmas but maybe reading it will kick start our New Years resolutions early!

I was doing really well and did 3 weeks of pretty consistent running, about 3 times a week. But then just before Christmas I slowed a little and only went on one run that week. But I'm ready to get back on it! New Years is the perfect time. I still want to do 3 runs a week but also start to incorporate some form of exercise on the other days, possibly more weight training?

I also attempted to start healthy eating before Christmas, my fave healthy dinner is a salad with sweet potato and some kind of fish. In the photos above I had tuna and mackerel. I also sprinkled over some goats cheese and balsamic vinegar to give it a bit more flavour. Obviously the healthy eating has not been kept up over Christmas, but who diets at Christmas?!

Hopefully my update at the end of January will be telling you that I've detoxed from Christmas and done at least 3 runs a week. Keeping my fingers crossed that my motivation sticks around!

Hope you're having a lovely festive time!

Festive Nails

Essie Bahama Mama and Essie Sole Mate

I have been playing around with festive glitter the past week, and this was one of the results!
I love the gold against the berry red. Very Christmas appropriate, don't you think?

I am going home after work today and I am SO excited.
I woke up at 6am and couldn't sleep cause I'm that excited to get home. My mum loves Christmas as much as I do
so our house is always so festive! I'll also be going to the pub to catch up with all my school friends and I haven't
seen them all in ages.

So basically, today is an amazing day!!

Hope you're all feeling as festive as me!

Winter Berry Lips

all pictures from Pinterest
I've been seeing berry red lips all over my Pinterest feed. I love the pairing of a dramatic lip with flawless skin and a slick of mascara. Definitely perfect for this time of year and a perfect Christmas Day make-up look.

What look will you be rocking this Christmas?

The Start of my Fitness Journey?

Towards the end of this year I got in the very bad habit of spending at least 20 mins a day criticising myself and moaning to my boyfriend about how unhappy I was and how little confidence I had. I put on a front to everyone else but I really wasn't happy with my appearance or my general health levels. I mean, walking up the two flights of stairs at work was an effort!! At my old job I did a lot of walking, usually up to 2 hours a day, 5 days a week. I think this was keeping me fitter and healthier than I realised but since starting an office job where I am sat down all day I have really started to notice.

So almost 3 weeks ago I decided to start running and stop feeling sorry for myself. I read my friend Hannah's blog post on her fitness journey and it spurred me on, it made me realise I wasn't the only person who had tried running and not immediately fallen in love and that giving it time was key.

On Monday I started to see the difference in my fitness level and in my shape. I ran the furthest I've run so far. I put on my favourite jeans and they no longer gave me stomach ache by the end of the day by being so tight. I am so happy I gave myself a kick and started this journey. I'm never going to be an amazing runner but I'm definitely going to be a trier. Seeing a difference definitely gives you a push to keep going.

I'm trying to go running or do some form of exercise every other day. I don't want to over do it because that's when I start to really hate it. If you can recommend any good YouTube home work out videos, that would be great! Because sometimes it really is just too cold to venture outside..

Keeping my fingers crossed that this motivation doesn't disappear!

Christmas Shopping with my Mum!

I know my blog is having a bit of a Christmas takeover at the minute, I'm sorry but I just love Christmas A LOT. I clearly get this obsession from my mum, can you spot her snowman mittens? She is also wearing a Santa watch. Since I'm living in London my mum decided to take advantage and come visit me so we could be festive and do a spot of sneaky shopping!! I found a new favourite shop, Pull & Bear. I'd heard about it a lot but I assumed it was pretty expensive, I was pleasantly surprised to find out it was about Topshop prices, which isn't cheap but not too crazy!

We could not have asked for better weather, it was one of those clear, cold, crisp winter days. We did a lot of walking which we wouldn't have been able to if it had been raining. We started off in Covent Garden, then walked to Somerset House. We then got the tube to Oxford Circus and spent a lot of money. Then we walked through Hyde Park to Kensington and had a mooch in Harvey Nichols where I fiiinally found the Kevyn Aucoin Sculpting Powder which I already love!

All in all I had a lovely festive day with my mum. I lived at home for a month before moving to London and I have to say, I really miss her!! Yep, I'm 22 but I'm definitely not to old to miss my mum so I'm so happy that we got to spend a whole day just the two of us. There was lots of laughing, walking, shopping and eating - perfect. Oh, and I think we saw about 10 Christmas trees too!

Hope you all have a great week!

Early Christmas Day

Everyone has been so excited that today is the first of December but I've been excited since 28th November because the 29th was my early Christmas day with my Dad and little sister! My Dad is swanning off to Australia with my Grandad for all of December so we had to celebrate early. It was such a fun weekend and even though I'd been ill towards the end of the week our 'christmas morning' really perked me up and by the time the turkey was served I was feeling pretty good. I was not feeling too good on Sunday after all the wine though...

When we got back to our flat in London our housemate had decorated our flat with his family so we are all truly in the Christmas spirit. Next job is to buy a Christmas jumper!

Is everyone excited about Christmas now??

Hope you have a great week!

The Me-time Tag

What do you like to watch or read during me-time?
I only read one book  at a time, I know some people read a few at the same time but I think I would merge all the stories together in my head! I have really got back into reading lately as I have about a 50 minute commute to work. I’m thinking of writing a post about some of the books I’ve read recently. I’ve just finished reading A Gathering Light by Jennifer Donnelly which I have probably read about 10 times, it is one of my favourite books from when I was younger and even though it’s meant for young adults I would still really recommend anyone in their 20s to read it too. The photo above shows some other books I've recently read as well.
As for watching, the old classic would be Friends. I’ve seen every episode at least twice but it is just really comforting. Or I would find a nice rom-com on Netflix. Can you tell my taste in tv and films isn’t that great..? haha.

What do you wear during me-time?
I recently bought some grey marl tracksuit bottoms from Topshop which are the comfiest things I have every owned so I would probably put those on and then some sort of baggy vest top. Or at this time of year I pull out my favourite Primark fleece pjs, they are from last year but are still so soft. I definitely want to buy some more this year! To be super cosy I would grab one of the many blankets on my bed and snuggle up.

What are your favourite me-time beauty products?
To be honest, when I’m relaxing on my own I don’t really use any beauty products. The first thing I usually do is take my make-up off and do my skincare routine and paint my nails which leads nicely onto the next question..

Current favourite nail polish?
Essie Set in Stones which I featured in this blog post. It is so amazingly glittery and perfect for this time of year.

What do you eat or drink during me-time?
I'll always have a cup of tea, there is nothing more comforting.

Current favourite candle?
I am so sad about this, but the majority of candles seem to give me headaches
L I used to love the Cranberry Yankee Candle but if I burn it for too long I get a really bad headache and I am yet to find one that doesn’t have this effect!

Do you ever have outdoor me-time?
Definitely not at this time of the year, but in the summer it’s really nice to go out into the garden to read and drink my cup of tea

Would you ever go and watch a film alone?
To the cinema? Probably not, I love going to the cinema as a social thing with friends, we usually go for drinks before or after. I think I’d feel a bit weird going alone.

Favourite online shop?
Probably ASOS, this must be the majority of people’s answer? I would love to find some nice independent stores though, so if you have any recommendations let me know!

Anything to add? What else do you do during me-time?
I eat, A LOT. Mainly chocolate or ice cream – such a typical girl!

Hope you enjoyed this tag! I first saw it on Fleur's youtube channel and then saw Jennie from Sailboat do it on her blog.

I tag Kayleigh, Sophia, Emma and Katie and everyone else who wants to do it! :)
If you've already done it link me in the comments!

A Winters NOTD | Essie & L'Occitane

A/W nails usually consist of dark berry reds and navy's which I do really love. But I thought I would try something different and go for an ice-y combination of mint green and silver glitter. I meant to only do this on one nail as an accent. But as you can see I got quite carried away..
I absolutely love the effect and can't stop staring at them but I am already dreading having to take all this nail varnish off, glitter is such a pain to remove!!

I thought I would give a quick mention to my favourite hand cream of the moment as well. Winter completely dries my skin out, especially my lips and hands. I haven't found the eprfect lip balm for everyday yet. I like my Nuxe Reve de Miel for when I'm at home but I don't like using it when I'm out and about as you have to put your finger in the pot and that's a bit gross when you have been on the tube! I do want to give the stick version a go though.
Anyway, back to the handcream. I got this in a set of 3 from my mum, I have had samples of L'Occitane hand cream before and I love it! It sinks in really quickly and is the perfect hand cream to have on my desk at work. It's pretty pricey compared to some offerings you can find in Boots or Superdrug but at £8 for a travel size, I don't think it's that bad!

What do you think of my nails? Too over the top or the perfect amount of wintery festive glitter?

Hope you all had a great weekend!

Pinterest Inspiration

Previous inspirations posts; one & two

Tumblr was my go to for inspiration but recently Pinterest has over-taken. I love how you can organise everything into different boards. I currently have four; Hair & Beauty, Fashion, Interior Design and Tattoos. But if I was looking to decorate my bedroom I could create a whole new board to collect all my inspirations!

I am currently debating a tattoo, so that's the board I've been re-visiting the most. I am still undecided, and I'm sure my mum would prefer if I chose not to get one, but sometimes you've got to follow your own decisions! I would only want something really small and I already have an idea of what I would want which has a personal meaning. Of course I would share it on my blog if I did decide to get it. So watch this space!

All of these images can be found on my Pinterest boards along with lots of other pictures. Please leave your Pinterest links in the comments, I need more people to follow!

Hope you have a great week!

Christmas in London

I'm really enjoying living in London while it's all Christmassy! Everyone at work is getting in the mood and we are already planning desk decorations. And I got my work Christmas party invite so it's definitely time to get excited!

Starbucks have brought out their red cups again which is always a big deal, the toffee nut latte is my fave. Costa's sticky toffee latte is also pretty good. But if you don't instagram it, did it really happen?!

Tom and I went on the hunt for a cuddly Monty the penguin from the John Lewis advert (which obviously made me cry, so cute!) but we couldn't find one :( I did get a snap with this model Monty though! We also visited the John Lewis roof top garden which had such lovely views of all the gorgeous Christmas lights on Oxford Street and you can also see the top of the shard and the London Eye. I would definitely recommend, there's a Hotel Chocolat bar there as well so you can grab a hot chocolate.

Selfridges looked absolutely amazing, their window displays are the best I've ever seen. None of my pictures gave them justice so I'd definitely recommend going along! Their Christmas emporium on the 5th floor is really good too, although I did spy a bauble for £23!! So don't get too carried away!

I know some people will say it's too early to get excited for Christmas but there are lots of Christmas campaigns being organised and talked about at work so I can't help it!!

Anyone else prematurely excited for Christmas?!

Hope you're having a good week :)

London.

I have survived my first two weeks in London!

I am so happy I made the decision to move here. I was so scared to move far away from my family again and have to make new friends at work. But I couldn't have asked for nicer workmates, everyone has made loads of effort to include me which is so lovely. We had our first work social which was a pub quiz, unfortunately we came 2nd last which is not great but at least we weren't last!!

I have also been out both Saturday nights with friends. We went to Mayfair one night and I couldn't believe how expensive everything was. A double was £12!! A double in the Midlands is about a fiver, crazy! Last night was my boyfriends housewarming where I'm temporarily staying until I find a place. I definitely had a few too many vodka lemonades so I am not feeling quite so fresh today!

I'm off to Ireland for a wedding on Friday which I am very excited about! I've never been to Ireland so it will be fun although we're only there for one night so there won't be much time for exploring unfortunately but I'm excited to meet all my boyfriends family :).

I definitely want to do some more exploring from now on, there's so much to see and do in London. But it's payday on Tuesday so I'm thinking my first stop will be Oxford Street ;)

Hope you've had a great weekend!

Haul | Bags, Books & Lipsticks

Moving to London means there are so many amazing shops around but for some reason I am always drawn in to Topshop. I think it's because I know I will find things I like in there, but I do need to branch out from the typical high street shops and take advantage of living in London. But anyway, I found lots of things and spent far too much money.

There is no guidelines about what to wear at my new job, you can go in trainers jeans and a hoody if you wanted to. Which will be great for those mornings when I need those extra 20 mins sleep but generally I do like to make a bit of an effort so I thought I would get a few new bits to perk up my wardrobe.

My best friend bought the coated Topshop Leigh jeans and (with her permission) I copied her! They are a bit smarter than normal jeans but still really comfortable. One thing to bare in mind is that they aren't as stretchy as normal jeans, I think it's to do with the coating on them, I bought my regular size and they are definitely quite snug but I think as I wear them more they will loosen up a bit.

I bought two tops, this Topshop shirt that I have seen Lily Pebbles wearing and I'm so glad I bought it, it hangs so nicely and is really flattering. Then I noticed that everything I was looking at was black and white, I am definitely loving monochrome but I thought I should inject a bit of colour so I went for this peachy orange loose t-shirt. I love this paired with my new jeans.

Finally from Topshop I got myself a new bag, I can't seem to find it on the website though, sorry! I used to buy bags constantly when I was younger but I hadn't bought one in a long time, so I think it was due! I splashed out and got this beautiful black leather bag which I think will last for ages and obviously because it's black it goes with everything.

I also bought Revlon Black Cherry lipstick which I've wanted for ages. I'm getting back into wearing lipsticks, I was always too self conscious to wear them at my last job but new job, new lipsticks! I finally bought Gone Girl, I know I'm a bit late to the party and everyone is raving about the film but I always want to read books first. And sometimes if I love a book loads I won't ever watch the film cause I'm always worried it won't live up to my expectations and then once I've seen a film it makes me forget how I imagined it - Harry Potter is a very good example of this. I will never ever watch The Lovely Bones cause that is my all time favourite book, if you haven't read it I would highly recommend but be prepared for tears!!

I definitely need to rein in the spending from now on, living in London is so expensive!!
Hope you've had a great weekend!

Bad Blogger

A giant deckchair...cool, right?

I don't even know how to start a blog post anymore, it has been that long! Over two months without a single blog post...whoops! I'm not about to type out a load of excuses, I just fell out of love with blogging to be honest. I don't know why but I just didn't want to do it. I was having a pretty hectic time with a lot going on in my personal life. My Grandad isn't very well and combining that with moving out of my flat and getting a new job made for a pretty busy schedule. Sorry!

So, about this new job. I am finally making the move to London and starting a job in an industry I am really passionate about, I don't want to talk too much about it until I have started but I can't wait to get stuck in on Monday. The rest of this week is going to be really hectic, I finish my current job on Saturday, move to London on Sunday and start my new job on Monday. I'm tired just thinking about it! I can't wait to be start living in London, it is something I have wanted to do for a long time but I've always found it a little intimidating. Let me know any recommendations of things to do or restaurants to visit because I know nothing about London at all!

Hopefully this new job will give me more blogging time because I will finally have a Monday-Friday job. I am so sick of working Saturdays so I am ready to take advantage of the weekends and get lots of blogging done.

Thank you to the people who have still been reading and checking back to my blog, I promise to try harder

July Favourites

Urban Fudge Iced Raspberry and Vanilla Hairspray £3.32
Bourjois Chocolate Bronzer £7.99
Bourjois 1 Second Mascara £9.99
MAC Pure Zen Lipstick £15.50
The Body Shop Pomegranate and Raspberry Room Spray £7.00
Palmers Cocoa Butter Natural Bronze Gradual Tanner £3.57

Another month almost over so here are my July favourites! A lot of affordable favourites from me this month. I had a bit of a splurge in Boots and Superdrug at the start of the month which is why all but one of my favourites are under £10.

I've got three make-up items this month, two from Bourjois. Bourjois are a brand that I've never really been drawn towards, but I've tried a few products recently and have been very impressed. The Chocolate bronzer is an old fave of mine and very popular in the blogging community. It is so affordable but really competes with high end brands. The colour pay off is brilliant and it lasts really well throughout the day. The only thing to bare in mind is that it is quite an orange toned bronzer so I wouldn't recommend it for contouring. The second Bourjois product is the 1 Second mascara. The name instantly appealed to me as fast makeup is always a plus. This mascara doesn't take 1 second but it does give great volume and length really easily. This has become my every day mascara for when I want volume and length but don't want to sit there for 10 minutes perfecting every eyelash! The final make-up product is the one more expensive item in this months favourites and that is MAC Pure Zen lipstick. This is a gorgeous peachy pink that goes so well with a smokey eye. I've been wearing this in the daytime as well and because it's a creme sheen it keeps your lips really hydrated.

A hair favourite is the Urban Fudge Raspberry and Vanilla Hairspray. If I'm honest I bought it for the smell and it does not disappoint, it smells absolutely amazing. However it also works really well as a hairspray! It leaves no stickiness but still keeps everything in place. Next up is The Body Shop Pomegrante and Raspberry room spray (spot a raspberry theme??). This might seem a bit random, but I love the smell that candles give but I have realised that a lot of candles give me headaches. So then I tried out some diffusers but I found they didn't give out enough scent so I was looking for an alternative when I found this. This is a super sweet scent so maybe not for everyone but I love spraying it straight after I've cleaned my flat or when I know people are coming over and everyone always comments on it! I will definitely look at more scents because I am absolutely loving this one.

Last but not least is the Palmers Cocoa Butter Natural Bronze gradual tanner. This is the best discovery I have ever made. It has quickly become my favourite fake tan and is an absolute bargain at £3.57. When I buy gradual tanners I generally don't expect much, a lot of the ones I've tried either don't show up at all or are really orange. But this one is so different. It showed a colour on me with first application and was not at all orange. Even with constant application every day there was no streaking or patchiness. I am so so impressed with this fake tan, it really rivals some of the more expensive ones I've tried. So if you're going to give anything a go from my favourites this month then I would really recommend this tan.

Hope you've had a great month and that you find some new products from this post!

Skincare Routine

AM:

PM:

It has taken me quite a while to get a skincare routine that has given me the results I really wanted. I am quite lucky that I don't get spots other than when I drink a lot of alcohol or when that time comes around, ladies you know what I'm saying. But I still wasn't fully happy with my skin, I get quite red cheeks and those under the skin bumps which are caused by congested skin (I think). I would moan about my skin not being good enough but I would only manage to give my face a quick rinse and then slap on some moisturiser, so no surprise it wasn't perfect really. Even though my skincare is still quite simple, it is really working for me. The under the skin bumps have disappeared and the redness is reduced a lot. (If anyone has any tips for redness, then please let me know as it hasn't completely gone.) I'm even comfortable going out with only under eye concealer and a quick coat of mascara, which was pretty much unheard of for me. I'd put on a full face of make-up just to nip to the shop.

I've linked all the products above and the list shows the order that I use the products. Two I have missed out are the Origins GinZing Moisturiser and the Clarins Instant Eye Make-Up Remover. I am waiting to repurchase both of these so I didn't have them to photograph but I love them both!

The game-changers for me are the Caudalie Beauty Elixir and The Body Shop Aloe Facial Cleanser. Both of these seem to calm my skin and really help with redness. A lot of cleansers can seem quite stripping on my skin and irritate it quite easily but The Body Shop cleanser is really simple and takes off my make-up without loads of perfume scents. I don't need my cleanser to smell nice! And do I really need to speak about the Caudalie Beauty Elixir? Such a cliche blogger favourite! I use it as a toner and it can also be used as a refreshing spray. I just absolutely love it and I really notice when I've run out - one of my instant repurchases.

What are your skincare favourites?
