Jewellery Haul | Shop Dixi

Firstly, this is not a sponsored post - I just wanted to share the love for a brand that I am obsessed with at the moment! I often buy jewellery from Topshop and other high street stores but I was so sick of bracelets breaking and rings turning my fingers green. So I decided to look online. I first stumbled across Shop Dixi's instagram and their style was exactly what I was looking for. The prices are really fair and a lot of the jewellery is sterling silver so no green fingers! I splurged £80 and got 2 gorgeous midi rings, a set of bracelets, a bangle and a more statement ring. All such great quality and it arrived in lovely packaging which is always nice!

If you're looking for affordable, good quality jewellery then I would definitely recommend Shop Dixi!

Sterling silver wishbone midi ring £14.00
Sterling silver plain band midi ring £14.00
Om Mantra amulet ring £12.00
unfortunately I can't find the two bracelets I got but there is a huge selection of others here

Spring Beauty Updates

Spring sunshine calls for an update in my make-up. Any excuse, right?

I've been loving lip glosses recently, which is strange for me as I used to hate them! But the two formulas I've been loving are ones from Revlon and the new range by Tanya Burr. From Revlon I have the colours Kiss Me Coral and Super Natural. In the Tanya Burr range I have the colours Afternoon Tea and Picnic in the Park. Both formulas are really smooth and give a good wash of colour, and best of all they aren't that sticky!

As for nails, I always lean towards the typical pastel colours when the weather gets better. As you know, I am obsessed with Essie so it's no surprise that my favourites are all Essie.
From l-r Lapiz of Luxury, Mint Candy Apple, Lilacism and Peach Daiquiri.

Will you be updating your make-up bag for Spring?

Battersea Park

Another weekend in London. This time the weather was gorgeous so we went for a stroll and an ice cream round Battersea Park. Not going to lie, I was definitely looking out for any of the Made in Chelsea cast - no luck. But we did see HUNDREDS of adorable dogs and we ate fried chicken. It was one of the best Sundays I've had in ages :) Still hoping that by the end of Summer I will be living in London.

Hope you had a great weekend!

Current Favourite Lip Combo

I've been putting down the bold lipsticks and opting for a natural lip. My favourite combo has been MAC Hue with a Revlon gloss over the top. It gives a lovely glossy natural colour and looks great for a daytime look or for evening paired with a smokey eye makeup.

I've been getting really into glosses lately. Today I went out and bought two colours from Tanya Burr's range in Superdrug which I am really excited to try! I actually met another viewer from her channel when looking at the stand which was nice. Some people don't get the YouTube hype but I love watching so many YouTubers. My favourites at the moment are HeyClaire and Lily Melrose if you're wondering!

Are you a lover or hater of lipgloss?

A Little Beauty Haul

I popped into Superdrug and John Lewis and couldn't resist picking up a few beauty bits. Two re-purchases and two new things to play with.

First off the re-purchases. This is my third Revlon Nearly Naked foundation, it is has become my staple everyday foundation. It's affordable, lightweight and lasts all day. I have just bought it in a darker shade because I've been fake tanning quite a bit lately so this colour will hopefully match better. The second re-purchase is the Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer. This has quickly become a staple in my make-up bag, I carry one around with me everyday and so I bought this one to keep at home for when I apply it in the mornings. It's a gorgeous concealer that works just as well under the eyes as it does on redness and spots.

On a bit of a whim I decided to pick up a L'Oreal Paris Liquid Lipstick, I hadn't heard too much about these but when swatching them I was sold! I went for the colour Rose Melody which is a lovely rose pink colour. I have tried this once and so far I love it. It is like wearing a lipstick and a lipgloss but in one product and it last much longer. I definitely want to try more colours!

I have heard so much about the Maybelline The Falsies mascara so I couldn't resist buying it. But I have to say that after a few days use I am not that impressed. For a mascara that calls itself 'The Falsies' I expected lots of volume but it's just a bit meh. I will definitely use it but probably only for work when I don't want particularly dramatic lashes. Has anyone else found this a disappointment?

I'm going to try not to do any more shopping because it's my birthday at the end of this month, yay!

7 April 2014

Aaaand Relax.

My job is pretty fast paced and high pressure, this leads to me being very stressed! I work from 6am until around 3pm, this means 5am alarms to look forward to everyday. Usually when I come in from work at about 3pm I sit on the sofa and don't move until about 7.30pm when I drag myself into the shower and then it's suddenly 9pm and I'm ready to get into bed ready for my 5am alarm. An evening disappeared in the blink of an eye.

But today, I came in from work and went straight back out to the gym and did a 25 min run. Then I came back, jumped straight in the shower and by the time I was drying my hair it wasn't even 4pm! This left me the whole afternoon and evening to do what I wanted and I feel completely energised by my gym session! I've managed to take multiple blog photos, watch some TV, cook dinner, catch up with friends I haven't chatted to in a while and write this blog post - all before 7.30pm. I'm going to try really hard to be more active when I get home from work else it can all get a bit depressing. I was getting into a rut where I felt like I just went to work and watched TV, not fun at all. I live in the middle of a city centre so there are endless things for me to do, even if it is just to grab a coffee and do some window shopping!

Plans for the rest of tonight are to drink endless cups of tea and watch Frozen (again...)

Hope you're having a good evening

ps, the nail varnish in the picture is Sally Hansen Kook A Mango, a gorgeous coral-red

Life Lately

Selfie feat. my new Urban Decay Naked 2 palette

Not sure whether I prefer Frozen or Tangled, should probably watch them both again ;)

3 years together <3

Sat outside having drinks with one of my best friends on my day off

Defeated by my roast dinner on Mothers Day

Desperados Verde is my new fave drink

A few photos summing up the past week or so.  I spent it celebrating mine and my boyfriends 3 year anniversary, playing with my new UD Naked 2 palette, drinking beers and wine, eating lots of food and appreciating the good weather we've been having in the Midlands!

Let me know what you think of these kind of posts :)

March Favourites

It's favourites time again! One stand out hair product this month has been the Charles Worthington Texturising Spray, people say it is a dupe for the Oribe texturising spray which I haven't tried. But I don't feel any need to splash out on that one as this one is amazing! It gives amazing texture with the hold of hairspray which is what I've been missing in most texturising sprays. My one skincare fave this month is the Origins Gin Zing moisturiser. I have a sample size but it's a very good size! I think I got it when I bought the GinZing moisturiser. It took me a while to try this as I was pretty happy with my Balance Me Eye Cream but one day I thought I'd give this a go. It is a salmon-y colour which provides a really great base for concealer, it doesn't give coverage but it seems to blur the colours which makes me use less concealer. I will definitely be buying the full size when this sample runs out.

Make-up favourites start with the L'Oreal True Match Foundation, I bought this for day time (which is why I bought my pale shade) but I actually think it's better for evening. It can be built up to be a really good coverage and lasts really well so I think I'm going to go and pick up my fake tanned shade. The other base product I've been loving is the Bobbi Brown Sheer Finish Powder. I first tried this in the little compact it comes in with the creamy concealer. I loved it for setting my under eye concealer and then ended up dusting it all over my t-zone so I decided I'd buy the big version this time! It's such a gorgeous fine powder which doesn't look cakey even when re-applied during the day.

My wonderful boyfriend bought me the Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette as a present for our 3 year anniversary. I don't know how I've resisted buying any of the naked palettes this long (probably cause they are crazy expensive!!). This eyeshadow palette has completely exceeded my expectations, I knew there was loads of hype but I really didn't expect it to be this good. The eyeshadows are so pigmented and so easily blended. It's a dream to use. It also comes with a double ended brush which is amazing quality and samples of each of the UD Primer Potions which I'm excited to try!

Hope you all had a great month, mine was slightly hectic at work but April seems better so far. Plus my birthday is in April yaaaay! Expect a birthday wish list later this month which I hope my mum is reading ;)
